A sight-reading practice tool that lets you learn piano music at your own pace.
Traditional piano software forces you to keep up with a scrolling tempo. Piano Poser does the opposite: it shows you what notes to play, waits until you play them correctly, then moves on. Take thirty seconds to find the right fingers. Try it three times. No judgment, no rushing. ✨
🎹 MIDI Controller: You'll need a MIDI keyboard or controller connected via USB. Any size works — from 25-key portable controllers to full 88-key weighted keyboards. The controller doesn't need built-in speakers; Piano Poser can synthesize audio for you.
🌐 Browser: Piano Poser uses the Web MIDI API, which is supported in Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers. Safari and Firefox do not currently support Web MIDI.
🔒 No account required. Your songs and settings are stored locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.
Piano Poser works with standard MIDI files (.mid, .midi). Best results come from:
🎮 Video game and chiptune MIDIs can work, but they were often sequenced for sound chips rather than human hands — results may vary.
🔧 Workshop — Drop in a MIDI file and configure how it's processed. Choose a quantization level (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, or 1/64 notes) to control step granularity. Piano Poser analyzes which notes are held at each moment and breaks the music into discrete steps — each unique combination of notes you need to play.
🎯 Practice — Select a song from your library and play through it step by step. Each step displays on:
Play the correct notes and the step advances. Configure how many correct repetitions are required before moving on (1–5). Navigate freely with arrow keys or on-screen buttons.
